Review: Noiseblocker Twin Tec

Conclusion:

The Noiseblocker Twin Tec shows off some new concepts bundled with some older traditional designs. The results are presentable although not flawless. In our test the Twin Tec did perform well and showed potential but did not pass our heavy handed 4.0 GHz test run. Noiseblocker implemented a impressive 25mm heatpipe in the center of the cooler right above the CPU heat spreader. In addition there are still 2 heatpipes on the sides of the cooler to enhance the cooling ability and cooling responsiveness. Although size does matter in this case it seems that the heat is not transferred fast enough or can not travel fast enough through the thick cooper heatpipe to be really effective. All in all it is a concept that needs to be further studied and refined.

Analyzing the testing results for the Noiseblocker Twin Tec shows not only that there is still more potential but also room for improvement. A 2nd fan attached could improve the results for the Twin Tec. If that 2nd fan would be counter rotating to create a turbine effect as we have seen some other coolers, could potentially eliminate or nullify the airflow turbulence issue.

One down side we found with this cooler is the mounting mechanism. How much or how little this is a deciding factor when purchasing a CPU cooler is up to anyone's preference. We found that the mechanism is not conducive to frequent mounting and remounting. Since this is not something a regular end-user is doing on a regular basis we will not hold it against the NB Twin Tec but even the first and only installation attempt can prove to be challenging.

The current MSRP is 65.90 EUR which is = $93.5813 USD. The performance of this cooler does not quiet justify the price. Noiseblocker release this cooler some time ago and prices probably have come down by now. The cooler supports a dual fan configuration. Investing in a 2nd fan or a matching pair of aftermarket fans is something we certainly would recommend.
