From sunny California comes our next contender. SilenX sent us the EFZ-120HA5. The EFZ-120HA5 is a 120mm heatsink equipped with SilenX’s own Effizio fan. Usually this would be a pretty straight forward review and it will be but we discovered something that immediately caught our eye. On the packaging of the SilenX EFZ-120HA5 is an additional brand name, PCOOLER. It is pretty confusing to say the least. We will try to dig a little bit deeper into this and see what we can come up with.
At a first look there is nothing that would make this cooler standout as a true innovator, however there are a few concepts that have been brought together here and we will explorer if this feature set is the right mixture and how well they have been implemented and how well they work together. We see the implementation of the H.D.T. design right away combined with dimpled wave pattern cut fins. Driving the heatsink is the SilenX Effizio which promises to be quiet and produce up to 86 CFM. Sounds like a good candidate for our bench.
SilenX has been a privately-owned and operated company based in southern California since 1995. There are several research and design facilities in addition to our primary warehouse facility and our renowned technical support and customer service center. Originally a high-end systems integrator for silent computers, SilenX shifted its focus to manufacturing silent PC components in 2002 and established factories in the United States, China, and Taiwan.
What SilenX has to say about this cooler:
The ideal cooler for, well, just about anybody, the EFZ-120HA5 is the perfect complement to any system. Great performance, low noise and with a very affordable price tag, this cooler will work with the most powerful processors on the market today, including those with the new LGA2011 mounting system. Rest assured, there are no other heatsinks on the market that provide this level of performance at the same price point, especially when you factor in low noise characteristics. The EFZ-120HA5 utilizes three 6mm heatpipes that directly contact the CPU and are intertwined to provide six effective heatpipes worth of thermal dissipation. A universal mounting bracket supports the widest range of current AMD and Intel sockets, including the latest multicore Phenom and i3/i5/i7 processors.
