Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Raw Pics Day 3 - Case Day I am starting to work on the case today. I planned to paint the case and add a window to the side panel. I suspect that there will also be a few minor mods that I will have to make to the case. So here it goes, starting with the paint. I decided to go with black for this because it accents most of the colored components inside. Here are pictures of the case before: Here are pictures after the paint job. I had to strip the case down to the bare frame and tap down the areas that I want to remain paint free. There are lots of corner and areas that are very difficult to get to which makes it difficult to get an even coat of paint in all areas. I was going with a heavy duty matt black paint often used in kitchens, garages, etc; areas that are exposed to great temperature changes, moisture, dust, etc. The case will be manageable after 2-3 hours after the paint has been applied but it will take about 24 hours for it to completely settle in. By manageable I mean that you can carefully pick it up/ touch in order to move your equipment. If you don't have a dedicated room for paint jobs that is dust free then you can move it from outdoors to indoors. and that wraps it up for Day 3. |
